About This Website
The EdithWhartonsLibrary.org project began during the summer of 2015 as a collaborative effort between a number of institutions, including the University North Dakota, The Mount, and the Edith Wharton Society. More information about these institutions can be found under the “About Edith Wharton” menu tab.
The site was built using Omeka, an open-source content management system for online digital collections. It collects and stores records and data corresponding to each of the roughly 2,700 books that are included in Wharton’s library at The Mount.
While the digital library is complete, work on this site remains ongoing. At various points in its construction, teams of students—including classes of undergraduates at the University of North Dakota—have worked to create some of the digital records and to upload and manage its datafiles. As some of these activities have been carried out in the primary service of education, we hope that users of the site will approach it with patience and understanding. At the same time, we remain committed to polishing the site and improving its contents and we welcome any feedback that might help us to do that.
