This book is part of a collection of de L'isle-Adam's larger works. This is a science fiction novel about a scientist who creates an android to be the 'perfect woman'.

This is the first volume (of two).

The cover of this book has leather on the spine and corners. The leather is worn away along the spine. Otherwise, the cover has a dark blue marbled pattern.

The title page of the book starts at the top with the title and the subtitle. In the middle, there is a small insignia. On the bottom of the page, there is the publication information and the date. There are a few mold spots on both of these pages.

Ramsden states in his catalog that this edition is half-spine flat blue morocco bound by the famous bookbinder Walter Berry.
