Title

Griechische Tragoedien

Subject

von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff, Ulrich

Description

This is the third of three volumes of the German translated Greek Tragedies by Ulrich von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff.

The cover is a light brown-tan color; ornately decorated in a dark red-brown Greek foliage surrounding the title and translator's name. In the bottom right-hand corner of the cover, there is a drawing of a Greek soldier, the same color as the foliage, playing a harp-like instrument very somberly. Below his feet, in front of him is a Greek soldier war mask and behind his chair are two other faces; one face is the tragedy mask and the other is a head of an older man with curly long hair. On the bottom left-hadn side of the cover, there are the words: "Dritter Band" which translates to "Third Volume" which is also placed above the titles of the plays on the title page.

The title page states the stories that were translated in this volume. They include Euripides' "The Cyclops", "Alcestis", "Medea", and "The Trojans".

This is the fourth edition from Berlin published in 1904 from Weidmannsche Buchhandlung.
